The southwest portion of the United States is a magical place. It’s only considered “boring desert” by someone who has never been there. The red sandstone landscapes of Arizona and Utah, from the Grand Canyon to Monument Valley, have powered legends for centuries. The mountainous Chihuahuan Desert and seasonal monsoons of New Mexico, have given it the nickname “Land of Enchantment.” And Death Valley and the Mojave Desert of southern California are home to some of the most unique plants and animals on Earth.
