Florida Landscapes

Landscape and nature photographs from Florida, from the limestone springs in the north to the Keys in the south, and everything in between.

I like to think I have developed a deep rapport with South Florida’s nature over the years. I grew up in Miami, and now live in Ft. Lauderdale. It’s the place where my love of nature and my love of photography both blossomed. I’ve spent a significant amount of time in places where the landscapes are more stereotypically majestic, like California and North Carolina, but Florida is different, especially South Florida. The beauty here often won’t find you if you aren’t seeking it. You need to find a way to get out on the ocean, or build the courage to wade through the Everglades. It takes work. And at times that’s frustrating, but I also think it’s healthy. It makes exploring nature a conscious commitment, instead of just a passing whim. Sometimes that means my photography production suffers, in phases of life when I may only have time for passing whims but not much time for deeper commitments. But, ironically, it also means my commitment to photography and nature increases. I hope that comes through in these photographs!
