In Great Smoky Mountains National Park, an overnight freezing rain has turned stream bed debris into a masterful ice sculpture.

Although I'm not sure it is obvious enough, I meant for the title of this image to mirror a title of a musical opus, like for instance “Canon in D”. As I took my time examining the minutiae of the landscape on this morning after a freezing rain, deep within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it truly felt like a symphony. A masterpiece. Every aspect played a role, down to the tiniest twig. Some of the ice sculptures reminded me of piano keys. Others of organ pipes. But none were as beautiful as the whole they created together.
