I witnessed this idyllic view of Schoolhouse Falls in Panthertown Valley, from late spring / early summer. Tucked away in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, Panthertown Valley is sometimes referred to as “The Yosemite of the East.” One notable difference, however, is the crowds. Some days, you may have many corners of Panthertown to yourself. I took this photo on such a day. On top of the surreal solitude, recently fallen rhododendron flowers perfectly framed the waterfall. It was so beautiful, I couldn't help but stay a while and reflect.
