A beautiful sunset settles in after a very stormy afternoon, in South Florida’s Big Cypress National Preserve.

After a very stormy afternoon, the clouds began to clear at just the right time, giving me an extremely beautiful Big Cypress sunset. It was one of those evenings where you keep thinking you're done, so pack up your gear and start heading out… only to unpack it seconds later, as the sky puts on a new show. This photograph shows the last of the multiple phases of the sunset. First, the low sun starts to light up the meadows and cypress domes a beautiful gold. Then the clouds lit up like fire. Finally, the sun faded below the horizon. The landscape got darker, but the clouds kept gently glowing like warm embers after the fire has gone out.
