Disturber of the Peace – Deer in Winter Wonderland
Three deer watch me as I make a relative ruckus, in an otherwise silent winter wonderland.
I wasn’t doing much, really… I wasn’t making any noise, to speak of. A few snow-crunching steps every now and then, and click of my camera shutter here and there. But I guess I was still probably the loudest thing in the forest. In this type of snowfall — no wind at all, fat flakes that stick to everything — not only is the snow silent, it is sound deadening. I was certainly appreciating the profound silence, but I guess I was also disturbing it. It seemed to me that these deer were watching me not like the would a concerning predator, but rather a loud, rude heckler who is ruining the peace for everyone else.
