Breakfast Time – Cormorants at Sunrise
My favorite thing about taking photos at sunrise is waking up with nature. I especially love it when I get to watch wildlife go through their morning routines. I like to imagine that the animals enjoy mornings as much as I do. On this morning, my cohabitants were these two cormorants, bobbing up and down repeatedly in their search for breakfast. In this photograph, the closer cormorant has a fish, but it looks like the farther one may have come up with nothing more than seaweed. But don't worry, cormorants are incredibly good hunters. They have been seen diving over 140 feet deep, and holding their breath for over a minute. This guy may have come up empty-beaked this time, but he's sure to find success soon.
