Waterfalls, kind of like sunrises and sunset, can easily become a cliche crutch for a photographer. But, just like sunsets, there’s a good reason for it. People like to see them! While they may make for a common photography subject, but they’re still a relatively uncommon sight otherwise. And a dramatic waterfall is indisputably one of nature’s true gems. But in addition to their inherent beauty, a waterfall in the landscape is kind of like salt in a recipe. Their presence helps bring out the beauty in the surrounding forest or mountains. They bring an intense sense of motion, which calls attention to the stillness of the leaves and trees, creating a wonderful juxtaposition – nature’s yin and yang.
